with Denise Page

Calendar Current session started Sep 23, 2024 , runs for 8 weeks

Mondays 5-6:00

8 weeks

Runs week of 9/23-11/11

This class will be taught by Denise Page and Ryan Van Buskirkand is designed for the new or newish adult actor. Were you the head end of the horse for “The Wells Fargo Wagon” song in your High School Production of The Music Man? Maybe you got a taste of the stage at a hypnosis event and you’ve been thinking about consciously returning ever since… or maybe you LOVE watching theater but have never ever tried being on stage before. Have you only done the “behind the scenes” stuff: ushering, ticket sales, concessions, pulling ropes attached to pully’s… Maybe the idea of this acting stuff is completely new to you but you just need a change, and a push and you want to meet new people? If any of this resonates with you – this is a class to consider taking. This class will focus on the basics of acting. We’ll be working with fun and simple pieces, scripts, skits and monologues. Some of the goals will be to have you understanding theater terminology while preparing you for a potential audition at a community theater… and maybe this class is as far as you want your acting “career” to go – that’s ok too. Some other skills we’ll work on will be building self-confidence, trusting and understanding your stage partner(s), applying different emotions to the words on the paper, exploring the empathy required for acting and being a character that isn’t you and how to express feelings on stage through physical, facial and body expression. You’ll leave this class feeling empowered and prepared for the next step in your acting journey.
