When you see the phrase “Martial Arts”, what comes to mind? Chances are you will think of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Self Defense, Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Karate, Fighting, and the list goes on. All are valid answers but they usually are only describing the “Martial” portion of the phrase, the physical manifestation of it, the actual Martial Combat that is taught. What all too often ignored is the second part of the phrase, “Arts”. A true practitioner of the Martial Arts needs to be creative in how to apply it in the real world. They need to be an Artist.
Randy Doyle is a Master Black Belt in the Art of Tang Soo Do and has taught this Korean form of Karate for over thirty years (Doyle’s Martial Arts Center). He is a former World Champion and inductee into the Action Martial Arts Hall of Fame. He also is a trained actor with a degree from Bridgewater State College who has worked professionally and most recently on the community theatre stages of Cape Cod. These two skill sets combined help him create a unique course in studying the Martial Arts from a different perspective.
He has created a program that will be beneficial to teenagers and adults of all physical abilities in providing fundamental Martial Art skills. This is not a course with uniforms and belts and not meant to take the place of full-time instruction in a reputable Martial Arts school.
You will learn:
Fundamental self-defense techniques
Role play de-escalation scenarios
Creative kata or form movement
We will build on self-confidence, perseverance and situational awareness
